Though the name has changed, the same trusted care and values you’ve come to expect are still in place at Strahler Dental Partners. With the modern technology and specialized training Dr. Strahler brings to the table, we’re now able to offer the best of both worlds to our patients: state-of-the-art advancements and specialization paired with a thoughtful, patient-first approach that makes all the difference.
Dr. Strahler is a native of southeastern Ohio who received his Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry from Marietta College. His doctoral degree is from the Ohio State College of Dentistry where he graduated at the top of his class and was recognized with numerous scholarly, technical, and leadership awards. During his dental coursework, he was one of only a few students chosen to complete advanced training in oral surgery, prosthodontics, periodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
After dental school, Dr. Strahler moved to San Antonio to complete the residency program at the South Texas Veterans Health Care System. In this program, the residents work alongside specialists to become proficient in implant procedures, IV and oral sedation, wisdom tooth removal, gum grafting, orthodontics, aesthetic veneers and complete dental rehabilitations. In addition, Dr. Strahler has completed over 500 hours of continued education since dental school, including continuum training at the KOIS Center in Seattle.
His interests outside of dentistry include fitness, travel, reading and spending time with family and friends. His wife, Erika, is a local middle school teacher and coach, and they spend most weekends finding new places to explore in Texas.
Dr. Mark A. Penshorn grew up near Schertz on his family’s ranch, and graduated from Samuel Clemens High School and Texas A&M University. He has practiced dentistry in the greater Schertz area since graduating from the UT Dental School in San Antonio in 1982. He is a member in good standing of the San Antonio District Dental Society, the Texas Dental Association, and the American Dental Association.
Dr. Penshorn’s approach to dentistry has always been to treat every patient the way he would like to be treated. That translates to taking the time to review each patient’s overall health history and concerns, listening to their input, and not rushing patients through the process. When patients need extensive care, he believes in working through a plan together, selecting priorities and a pace of treatment that the patient feels comfortable with. He’s pleased to pass the torch to Dr. Strahler, who shares the same approach of putting patients first and thoroughly listening to their needs.
In his spare time, Dr. Penshorn enjoys being with his wife and three sons, ranching and exploring the outdoors, and participating in the community. He also enjoys anything that takes place in the Colorado Rockies or the National Parks.
